Communication is critical in our industry and language barriers continue to be the biggest challenge in getting new Canadians to work. Many have limited abilities in English, and existing cultural values may prevent them from speaking up when they should, which can lead to accidents and liability and social tensions.
Working with the immigrant worker to improve their language skills is imperative. Today, there are resources for getting workers the job site language skills they need.
We’ve seen real success with our English for Construction program.
